Small Businesses Say No Way Big Labor

About NWBL

No Way Big Labor (NWBL)

Are you a small business owner frustrated about the intrusive role of government and the growing number of mandates dictating how to run your business? Are you an employee who has been subject to intimidation by a union organizer? Or are you simply a concerned citizen who believes that secret ballot elections are fundamental to our democracy?

If you responded “yes” to any of these, we strongly urge you to join our online community at NoWayBigLabor.com and help stop big labor and their political agenda that threatens America’s small businesses and reduces our economic competitiveness.

This website is a source for factual information and timely news articles covering big labor’s destructive agenda, but more importantly, it’s an interactive resource for you to join other concerned activists in sharing your opinions regarding big labor and how to fight back.

The need for your involvement has never been greater. Big labor is riding a wave of momentum after spending over $200 million in the 2008 elections to fund a slate of anti-small business candidates. Now they are actively trying to cash in on their investment by pursuing a policy agenda that runs counter to the principles of free enterprise and competition.

We have already witnessed big labor’s influence in the 111th Congress:

  • On March 10, 2009, the deceptively named Employee Free Choice Act (“EFCA” or Card Check), S. 560/H.R. 1409 was reintroduced in the U.S. House and Senate. This law mandates that employers recognize labor unions without first holding a private-ballot employee election.
  • On May 18, 2009, the Healthy Families Act, H.R. 2460 was referred to the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor. The bill, which is largely the same as bills issued in prior sessions of Congress, would require employers with more than 15 employees to provide workers with up to 7 days of paid sick leave each year.
  • In the near future, we expect a bill to be introduced that would change the current independent contractor rules and make it harder for a business owner to classify workers as independent contractors.

Let’s work together to defeat these blatant political attempts to pacify big labor bosses and give the government even more authority over the nation’s small businesses. Strong Main Street businesses and innovative job creators are needed now more than ever in order to revive our economy. Therefore, we must defeat legislative attempts by big labor that would radically alter the American workplace by reducing competitiveness and flexibility.
